The Research & Development (R&D) department plays a central role in the company’s innovation strategy. It is responsible for developing new technologies and continuously improving existing environmental systems to ensure the highest levels of efficiency, sustainability and cost-effectiveness. The department’s main tasks include identifying new trends and technologies in the field of environmental technology, designing and constructing innovative systems, and conducting tests and prototype trials. In doing so, R&D works closely with the production department and quality management. Another focus is on optimizing processes, materials and components to increase energy efficiency and reduce environmental pollution. This includes both improving existing plant technologies and developing new processes to reduce emissions and conserve resources.
The internship may include participation in research projects to improve plant performance in the form of research and analysis of current market and technology trends. Furthermore, support in the planning and execution of laboratory and practical tests is planned, which could include the evaluation and documentation of test results as well as an analysis of data to optimize processes and products. Additionally, the intern will help with the branch’s ISO 45001 certification by preparing documentation, assisting in audits, and ensuring compliance with safety standards. Further responsibilities include contributing to the Integrated Management System (IMS), ensuring it meets relevant quality and safety requirements.

Another important aspect is the long-term support of installed systems. The department ensures optimal spare parts logistics to guarantee smooth operation of the plants and offers upgrades and retrofits so that customers can benefit from the latest technological developments.
