Information for Participants

The visa process is organized and supervised by the host university in Taiwan together with the students. Leonardo-Sachsen issues a certificate of participation or funding confirmation for this purpose and is happy to support you with advice regarding the visa procedure. Please note: An international travel health insurance is a requirement for the issuance of a visa and participation for the program.

Important note for Chinese citizens of the People’s Republic of China: Participation in the STIPT program requires the successful application for and issuance of all necessary visas and permits by the relevant authorities in Taiwan. It is generally not possible for citizens of the People’s Republic of China to obtain the appropriate visa for a stay in Taiwan. Please understand that applications from individuals who cannot be granted entry or work permits cannot be considered.

The Taiwanese partner university awards credits depending on the chosen module and participation in the language course. These can be submitted to your home university for conversion into ECTS and recognition. Participants are responsible for this recognition process themselves. We recommend contacting your respective examination office before your stay abroad. Simply use the Learning Agreement with the courses provided by the Taiwanese university (see call).

The decision on how the course program must be completed for ECTS recognition lies with the applicants home university. Therefore, Leonardo-Sachsen recommends getting in touch with your own examination office at an early stage to clarify the requirements for possible future recognition of your achievements.

The selected students receive a funding agreement from Leonardo-Sachsen. This agreement sets out the academic content, rights and obligations, insurance provisions, and financial support through STIPT.

The participating students are compulsorily insured through the host Taiwanese university. In addition, they must independently ensure that they have comprehensive health insurance coverage, which also includes the practical training at TSMC, all leisure time during their stay, as well as any stays after their practical training at TSMC. Furthermore, it is also recommended to independently obtain sufficient accident and liability insurance coverage for the entire duration of participants stay in Taiwan, including all travel periods.

Accommodation in Taiwan is provided. The costs for accommodation must be covered by the students themselves.

The accommodation must be changed once:

  • During the course participation, accommodation is provided by the host university.
  • During the practical training at TSMC, accommodation is provided in a dormitory in Taichung.

Note:
Even if arrival in Taiwan may only be possible later the rent for the dormitory usually has to be paid from the beginning of the semester in Taiwan.

To ensure the program continually improves for everyone involved, we look forward to your feedback! After your stay abroad, we will send you a link to our online evaluation. Your experiences and suggestions help us further develop the program.

After your stay, you will be asked to upload your final documents to the Mobility Online portal.

Completing the evaluation and uploading the final documents after your stay is a requirement for successful participation.

Data Protection

By applying for the STIPT program, you are voluntarily providing us with your personal data. Until the start of your stay abroad, you may withdraw your consent to the processing of your data at any time. However, please note that participation in the STIPT program will then not be possible. You can find our detailed ➚privacy policy when applying through Mobility Online.

Complaints

As an applicant or participant in the STIPT program, you have the opportunity to inform us in writing of any deficiencies in the application process or in the preparation, implementation, or evaluation of your stay abroad.

Your complaint will be treated confidentially and forwarded to the appropriate offices. We will work to resolve your concern promptly. If necessary, we will involve relevant persons (e.g., representatives of your university or the host institution) in the clarification process. Depending on the nature of the complaint, you will be informed either directly in person or – with due regard for data protection – about the progress and resolution.
