Information for Accepted Participants
Visa
The visa process is organized and accompanied by the host university in Taiwan together with the students. Leonardo-Sachsen supports the students as part of the STIPT program and can, if needed, issue appropriate confirmation of admission to the program. Applying for the visa in good time, as well as complying with all applicable requirements and conditions, is the responsibility of the respective students.
Please note: International travel health insurance is a prerequisite for the issuance of a visa and for participation in the program.
Important note for citizens of the People’s Republic of China: Participation in the STIPT program requires the successful application for and issuance of all necessary visas and permits by the responsible authorities in Taiwan. For citizens of the People’s Republic of China, it is generally not possible to obtain such a visa for a stay in Taiwan. We ask for your understanding that applications from persons for whom no entry or work permit can be issued cannot be considered.
Recognition of Academic Credits
The Taiwanese partner university awards credits depending on the chosen module and participation in the language course. These can be submitted to your home university for conversion into ECTS and recognition. Participants are responsible for this recognition process themselves. We recommend contacting your respective examination office before your stay abroad. Simply use the Learning Agreement with the courses provided by the Taiwanese university (see call).
Your home university determines which courses are eligible for recognition with ECTS credits. We therefore recommend contacting your examination office early to clarify the requirements for having your credits recognized.
Grant Agreement
The selected students receive a funding agreement from Leonardo-Sachsen. This agreement sets out the academic content, rights and obligations, insurance provisions, and financial support through STIPT.
Insurances
Students must have comprehensive health insurance coverage, which also covers the practical training at TSMC, all leisure time during their stay, as well as any stays after their practical training at TSMC. Furthermore, it is also recommended to independently obtain sufficient accident and liability insurance coverage for the entire duration of participants stay in Taiwan, including all travel periods. In case of damage, neither the organizers of STIPT nor the host Universities and TSMC are liable and cannot be held responsible to provide financial or any other kind of compensation.
Accommodation
The accommodations in Taiwan are, in most cases, provided by the Taiwanese universities, and the costs must be covered by the students themselves. Information about the accommodations will be provided in due time.
The accommodation must be changed once:
- During the course participation, accommodation is provided by the host university.
- During the practical training at TSMC, accommodation is provided in a dormitory in Taichung.
Note:
Even if arrival in Taiwan may only be possible later the rent for the dormitory usually has to be paid from the beginning of the semester in Taiwan. Please note that accomodations may involve shared rooms.
Evaluation & Final Documents
In order to continuously improve the program for all participants, we look forward to your feedback. Over the course of your participation, you will therefore be asked to take part in three mandatory surveys as part of our monitoring:
- directly after your arrival in Taiwan
- at the end of the educational module
- at the end of the STIPT program
As part of our program evaluation, surveys will be conducted up to two years after the completion of your studies. Your experiences and feedback are an important contribution to the further development of the program.
After completing your stay, you will also be asked to upload the Transcript of Records (TOR) issued by the Taiwanese partner university to the Mobility Online portal.
Active participation in the three mandatory surveys, as well as uploading the Transcript of Records (TOR), are prerequisites for the successful completion of your program participation.
