My experiences with… finding an internship placement and applying
Finding the internship placement was uncomplicated. Through my university’s online resources, I quickly found suitable information, and the support from the responsible administrator was very helpful. The entire application process was simple and straightforward, so I was able to focus on what was important—the substantive preparation for the internship—without much effort.
My experiences with… finding accommodation and the journey
I didn’t have to look for an apartment, as I had converted my car so that I could sleep in it. This decision gave me a lot of flexibility and independence. The journey took around 17 hours by car—exhausting but also exciting. Along the way, I was able to see many places and had the freedom to stop whenever I encountered something interesting. Once there, the university still offered me a room in the student dormitory.
My tip:
Stay open, immerse yourself in the culture, and actively shape your stay—this is how it becomes a truly enriching experience.
My experiences with the… internship
The course was overall very informative and provided a good introduction to the topics covered. Since I already had some prior knowledge, I was able to deepen my understanding and reflect critically on many aspects. In particular, the exchange with the instructors and other participants opened up new perspectives for me and strengthened my motivation to further engage with the subject.
My experiences with… everyday life and leisure on site
I found life in Latvia pleasantly unhurried and deeply rooted in tradition. The Latvians I met during the exchange were open and warm-hearted. Together with European fellow students, we took walks through the forest and the surrounding nature, which was especially impressive during the golden Latvian autumn. This tranquility and connection with nature greatly enriched my stay.
My conclusion
Overall, the internship was a valuable experience—both professionally and personally. Particularly positive were the openness of the people and the opportunity to experience everyday life in another European country. Even though the learning content could sometimes have been a bit more in-depth, I still gained a lot from it. My tip: stay open, immerse yourself in the culture, and actively shape your stay—this is how it becomes a truly enriching experience.
