Strong
partnership
in Saxony
The Saxon Erasmus+ consortium, coordinated by Leonardo-Sachsen at TU Dresden, is one of the largest networks for internships abroad in Germany, with twelve universities.
The Saxon Erasmus+ University Consortium
The Saxon Erasmus+ Consortium, with twelve universities, is the second-largest association of its kind in Germany and dates back to the first collaborations in 1992. Since 2004, the universities have been cooperating under a framework agreement. Currently, collaboration agreements exist with 12 universities regarding the administration of mobilities within the framework of Key Action 1 under Erasmus+. These include student mobility under KA131 (outgoings) and KA171 (incomings & outgoings), as well as staff mobility under KA131 and KA171 (outgoings & incomings by arrangement within our consortium).
Within the Saxon Erasmus+ Consortium, 3 universities, 5 universities of applied sciences, 2 art academies, 1 university of cooperative education, and 1 dual university have joined forces. The core area is the management and administration of the Erasmus internship program for all 12 partners. In addition, Leonardo-Sachsen takes on responsibility for staff mobility for some partners. The main goal is to offer as many students and graduates from Saxony as possible the chance to gain work experience abroad. Furthermore, we aim to provide comprehensive support not only to students and graduates but also to teachers and staff members of the Saxon partner universities, making the path to a stay abroad as easy as possible.

Benefits for Consortium Partners
Leonardo-Sachsen assumes responsibility for the following on behalf of its consortium partners:
- All project management and reporting
- Project controlling and finances
- Application management and scholarship administration
- Cross-institutional marketing and communication activities
- Advisory and support services in the areas of internship search, exchange of experiences, and scholarship administration
- Support for funded participants from the beginning to the end of their stay, including advice on questions and emergencies
- Planning and implementation of the digitalization requirements of the EU Commission / DAAD
- For international students planning an internship in Germany: submitting the application to the Central Foreign and Specialist Placement Office (ZAV) for the consent document, which serves as proof of authorized employment and for applying for a residence permit
The central bundling of these tasks at Leonardo-Sachsen provides noticeable relief for the Saxon consortium partners. The time thus freed up can be specifically used for additional advisory services as well as for supporting further international projects and programs.
How to Become a Consortium Partner?
Would you like to become part of our consortium? In addition to the requirements that Higher Education Institutions must meet in order to participate in the ERASMUS+ program, it is necessary for you to grant us, as the consortium, a mandate and sign a cooperation agreement. This agreement specifies, among other things, which tasks and activities we as a consortium are permitted to undertake on your behalf.
If you have any questions, it is best to contact the Erasmus+ coordinator Enrico Plathner directly.
