My experience with… Searching for an internship placement and applying
The internship placement was assigned to me by my practice partner in Germany. Since Kühne+Nagel is an internationally operating company with numerous locations worldwide, I had the opportunity to complete the internship abroad. The application process was traditional, involving a CV and a short cover letter sent directly to the respective organization.
My experience with… Apartment search and arrival
Finding an apartment was uncomplicated via Airbnb. There was nothing special about it, as most of the time was spent either at the internship or out in the city. Naturally, you have more options and better prices if you book in advance. What was most important to me was a good connection to public transport, such as the subway or bus. The arrival was very relaxed and smooth—I traveled by Flixtrain or Flixbus.

My experience with… The internship
My time during the internship was consistently positive. I was able to gain many new impressions and gather valuable experiences. Even outside of the internship, I spent a lot of time with other people in the city, which strengthened my initiative, independence, and sense of responsibility.
What I found particularly enriching was getting to know a different culture and mentality.
My colleagues stood out for their profound knowledge and were able to introduce me to new perspectives and methods.
Additionally, compared to Germany, the work atmosphere was noticeably more relaxed and there was a very familial relationship among colleagues.
My experience with… Everyday life and leisure activities on site
There were numerous leisure opportunities on site—whether watching football, going to bars, walking around the city, or doing sports, there was always something to do. Copenhagen is a very pleasant city for young people and doesn’t feel overcrowded. The city is super modern, offers many sports facilities, green spaces, beautiful architecture, and numerous sights. Daily life was well structured thanks to work, and after work I occasionally did something, but mainly, of course, on weekends.
My conclusion
Overall, my experience was very positive. My tip: Be open, approach people, and just dare to try new things. You grow from the challenge and take away a lot on a personal level. I have no suggestions for improvement—the program is well organized and you can easily find your way.
