Program Information

Erasmus+ offers students and graduates the opportunity to study, conduct research, or complete an internship abroad. In the higher education sector, the program is coordinated by the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) and promotes transnational cooperation between European universities and companies.

Since 1995, the Leonardo-Saxony based at ➚TU Dresden has organized internships abroad for students and graduates of Saxon universities. Each year, around 400 participants take advantage of this opportunity – more than 5,000 scholarships have already been awarded.

Would you like to do an internship, carry out a research stay, or write your thesis abroad? Find out more about the wide range of Erasmus+ funding opportunities on the following pages.

For a study period abroad, please contact the International Office of your university (students of DHSN and FHD can contact Leonardo-Sachsen).

Erasmus+ KA131 is a sub-programme of the European Union that offers students and recent graduates the opportunity to complete an internship in one of the participating European countries. The aim is to gain international work experience, strengthen intercultural skills, and improve employability on the European job market.

The funding period for internships is usually between 2 and 12 months. Participants receive financial support, the amount of which depends on the host country. In addition, special grants can be applied for by students with fewer opportunities, such as those with disabilities. A prerequisite for participation is enrolment at a university that takes part in the Erasmus+ programme. Recent graduates can also receive funding within 12 months after graduation. The internships must take place at a company, organisation, or university abroad—EU institutions are excluded.

The programme offers an excellent opportunity to expand both professional and personal networks, as well as to improve language skills.
