Program Information

Erasmus+ offers students and graduates the opportunity to study, conduct research, or complete an internship abroad. In the higher education sector, the program is coordinated by the ➚German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) and promotes transnational cooperation between European universities and companies.

Leonardo-Sachsen
, based at ➚TU Dresden, has been organizing internships abroad for students and graduates from Saxon universities since 1995. Each year, around 400 participants take advantage of this opportunity – more than 5,000 scholarships have already been awarded.

Are you interested in completing an internship, undertaking a research stay, or writing your thesis abroad? Find out more about the diverse funding opportunities offered by Erasmus+ on the following pages.

Erasmus+ is a sub-program of the European Union that, among other things, offers students and university graduates the opportunity to complete an internship in one of the participating non-European partner countries or EU-associated countries, such as Switzerland and the United Kingdom. Russia and Belarus are no longer eligible. The aim is to gain international work experience, strengthen intercultural skills, and improve employability in the European job market.

Participants receive financial support, the amount of which depends on the host country. In addition, special grants can be applied for by students with fewer opportunities, such as those with disabilities. The prerequisite for participation is enrollment at a university that takes part in the Erasmus+ program. Recent graduates can also be funded within 12 months after graduation. Internship placements must be in a company, organization, or university abroad—EU institutions are excluded.

The program offers an excellent opportunity to expand professional and personal networks as well as to improve language skills.
