We’ve been having a technical hiccup with our application form since Friday, but don’t worry—we’ll have our team of IT wizards on the case by Monday! Here, it’s not “first come, first served,” but rather “everyone who applies within the deadline gets a fair shot.” So please swing by again at the start of the week and give your application another go. Thanks for your patience—and may the (application) odds be ever in your favor!

Application process

Please submit your application for participation in the program via Mobility Online within the period of the call. After submitting the application form, you will receive a registration request by email. You can then upload the following application documents online in the workflow section:

  • Motivation letter(s) in English for each prioritized internship offer
  • Current certificate of enrollment at NTUST
  • CV in English
  • Transcript of Records with at least an average grade of B
  • Proof of your English language proficiency (at least at “upper intermediate” level see here)
  • Proof of your German language proficiency (if available)
  • Bachelor’s degree certificate (if available)
  • proof/certificates of previous practical experiences (if available)

All documents must be fully uploaded to Mobility Online by the application deadline at the latest. Incomplete applications unfortunately cannot be considered. We therefore recommend that you submit your application early and not wait until the final day. If you have any questions or need advice, please do not hesitate to contact Leonardo-Sachsen via email to
international.leosachsen@tu-dresden.de.

Students of NTUST with proof of enrollment and with at least an average grade of B shown in the transcript of records can apply.

Up to five selected students will receive funding as part of the Saxon Student Mobility Program. This includes a monthly scholarship rate of 850 EUR and a one-time travel allowance of 2,125 EUR. Additionally, a Social Top Up (additional monthly amount (usually 250 EUR) for eligible students) is possible for:

  • Students with a degree of disability (GdB) of 20 or higher or with a chronic illness
  • First-generation university students
  • Working students
  • Students with children

The funding is paid out in two installments. You will receive 70% of the funding after your arrival at the Saxon institution and submission of the Confirmation of Arrival (PDF). The remaining 30% will be paid after submission of the Confirmation of Attendance / Confirmation of Stay (PDF).

Further information will be provided after selection.

Note: At the moment we have more internship offers than grants. In case you would be interested in an offer no matter if this is supported with a grant or not, let us know via email after your application. One internship can also be financed through a salary from the company. We will inform about funding opportunities after the matching process.

The review of applications and matching with companies is carried out by Leonardo-Sachsen until early February. Online interview appointments take place until mid-February. Afterwards, you will receive either an acceptance or rejection. After the successful matching, we can then proceed directly to apply for your visa and work permit.

The visa process is organized and supported by Leonardo-Sachsen together with the students. The basis for the residence permit is an authorization from the Central Foreign and Specialist Placement Office (ZAV). Leonardo-Sachsen arranges this authorization for you, but they rely on your cooperation.

Every student coming to Germany for an internship needs a work permit from the Central Agency for Employment Placement (ZAV). The entire process can take up to four weeks. Leonardo-Sachsen takes care of the application for you. With this authorization, the visa is issued.

An international travel health insurance is a prerequisite for obtaining a visa and participating in the program.

The selected students must arrange their own accommodation; they will receive support from the Leonardo-Sachsen team.

Through the program, we gained a highly motivated intern from Taiwan for our relocation team. He quickly familiarized himself with our processes, brought a fresh perspective, and enriched both the team and our clients professionally and personally. The collaboration was so excellent that he continues to work with us as a student assistant. The Leonardo program has significantly facilitated our access to qualified international talent, and we would recruit through it again at any time. (Janett, Intap Network)
